Dubaï (PlantAndEquipment.com) - Sharjah Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority (SPCFZA) has opened the Al Dhaid Logistics Complex, a key multimodal logistics hub that is meant to enhance supply chains, boost trade connections and assist economic development throughout the UAE and GCC.
The first phase of the project comprises over 16 million square feet and has a capacity of up to 1.5 million TEUs per annum, with potential for growth in the future to accommodate growing logistical demand.
The complex, located near Al Dhaid, would link seaports, border crossings, industrial zones and distribution centres to provide an integrated platform for transportation, storage and cargo handling activities.
The facility will be an expansion of Sharjah’s logistics network, connecting Port Khalid, Hamriyah Port, Port Khorfakkan and Kalba Port, with eventual rail access via Etihad Rail broadening multimodal transport capabilities.
The facility includes a Gulftainer-operated dry port, complemented by new warehouses, cargo processing facilities, vehicle marshalling yards and customs inspection infrastructure.
The project also complements the Sharjah–Oman Logistics Corridor, which is set to enhance commercial linkages between the UAE and Omani ports and drive cargo flows via regional markets.
