Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - In an effort to increase operational efficiency, the Saudi Ports Authority (MAWANI) has implemented new rules that permit products to be freed from ports prior to the payment of storage costs.

Based on authorized data in the authority's electronic systems, shipping agents, terminal operators, importers, exporters, and customs brokers may request cargo release under the amended regulations.

All unpaid storage costs must be paid within 15 days of the invoice date, and the release is contingent upon an official permission granted in accordance with port laws.

Officials made it clear that no financial responsibilities are waived or reduced by the legislation, and that all payments must be made within the allotted period.

According to the authority, outstanding fees may be subject to legal collection proceedings if they are not resolved and will continue to be considered state income.

With the new policy scheduled to now in effect with MAWANI encouraging all parties involved to adhere to regulatory processes and payment obligations.
