MSC Launches Europe–Middle East Route Via Saudi Arabia

Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - In place of more conventional maritime routes, MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company has established a new commercial route that connects Europe and the Middle East via Saudi Arabia.

Cargo arrives at Red Sea ports, such as Jeddah Islamic Port and King Abdullah Port, and is then moved inland to Dammam for distribution across Gulf markets. This route mixes land and marine transportation.

By lowering reliance on crowded maritime routes, such as the Strait of Hormuz, the concept is intended to enhance flexibility and delivery times.

According to industry watchers, the strategy is part of a larger trend toward integrated logistics corridors, which mix overland and sea transportation to optimize supply chains.

The development emphasizes Saudi Arabia's expanding importance as a logistical center linking Asia, Europe, and Africa, bolstered by Vision 2030 investments in transportation networks and infrastructure.

According to officials, the new route is anticipated to improve supply chain resilience across the Middle East and improve regional trade flows.
