Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - Qiddiya Investment Company has revealed plans for the National Tennis Centre, a significant sports and entertainment destination that will be the biggest tennis facility in the Middle East.
The facility will include 30 courts, 28 hard and two clay, and is being built to ATP, WTA and ITF standards to host international events and top training programs. It will be located inside Qiddiya City.
The facility will contain a 15,000-seat center court with a retractable roof, an 8,000-seat multi-purpose arena, a 5,000-seat show court and a high-performance training centre devoted to athlete development.
The arena, designed by Populous, will host both professional and grassroots tennis, and will be a year-round destination for concerts, esports and other entertainment events.
Qiddiya said the National Tennis Centre would be a vital enabler for sports participation, attracting international events and helping Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 objectives to establish world-class sports infrastructure and tourist assets.
Construction is already underway and the project is part of Qiddiya City’s larger portfolio of sports, leisure and cultural venues being constructed west of Riyadh.
