PIL Adds New Red Sea Service At Jeddah Islamic Port

Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has introduced Pacific International Lines' (PIL) intra-Red Sea feeder service to Jeddah Islamic Port, increasing the port's regional maritime connectivity.

The new service would link Jeddah to Egypt's Sokhna and Safaga ports, with a capacity of up to 1,261 TEUs. The line is designed to improve trade flows between Saudi Arabia and Egypt while also connecting to larger regional and international markets.

The development reinforces Jeddah Islamic Port's status as a major Red Sea shipping and logistics center, providing importers and exporters with additional alternatives for transporting goods around the area.

Extending marine connection is especially crucial for Saudi Arabia's construction and heavy equipment industries, as machinery, trucks, spare parts, and components continue to flow through the Kingdom to support significant infrastructural, industrial, and mining projects.

The new service is part of Saudi Arabia's overall aim to improve port connections, boost exports, and position the Kingdom as a worldwide logistics center connecting Asia, Africa, and Europe.
