MSC Launches Saudi Arabia’s First Multimodal Transshipment Corridor

Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - MSC Saudi has established Saudi Arabia's first integrated multimodal transshipment service, opening a new logistical corridor between the Kingdom's Red Sea and Arabian Gulf shores.

Developed in partnership with MAWANI, Saudi Arabia Railroads (SAR), and ZATCA, the service connects King Abdullah Port and Jeddah Islamic Port in the west to King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam in the east.

MEDLOG operates the corridor, which integrates road and rail travel throughout Riyadh Dry Port, enabling transshipment containers to move across Saudi Arabia via an integrated inland network and giving door-to-door access.

The first container cargo has already made its voyage throughout the new route, indicating that the service is operational.

The new route adds to Saudi Arabia's burgeoning port, rail, and interior logistics network, giving another alternative for transporting goods between the Red Sea and the Arabian Gulf while also helping the Kingdom's desire to become a significant regional logistics and transshipment center.
