Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - As part of the Gemini Cooperation, Denmark’s A.P. Moller-Maersk and Germany’s Hapag-Lloyd will change the route of one of their shared container services so that it goes through the Red Sea and the Suez Canal.

The change affects the IMX service, which connects the Mediterranean with India and the Middle East. Starting with the Albert Maersk, changes will be made to sailings going west in the middle of February. Changes will be made to sailings going east starting with the Astrid Maersk.

All transits will happen with help from military security.

The two companies said that, based on the situation, they might make similar changes to the route of the SE1 and SE3 services in the future. They said that they would let users know more about this.

At this time, there are no plans to make any more changes to the larger Gemini network that are linked to the Red Sea.

Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd said the changes are meant to cause as little trouble as possible for customers while keeping schedules. They also said that operations will still be subject to regular checks of the region's security situation.

It began on February 1, 2025, and includes 29 shared trunk services and 29 shared shuttle services along trade lines between East and West.
