Gulftainer Unveils Al Dhaid Multi-Modal Trade Corridor

Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - Gulftainer has unveiled plans for the Al Dhaid Multi-Modal Trade Corridor, a 150-hectare logistics center to enhance cargo connections between Khorfakkan Port, Etihad Rail and important markets throughout the GCC.

Developed in conjunction with Sharjah Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority, the facility will have an annual handling capacity of 1.5 million TEUs and will act as an interior expansion to Khorfakkan Port, some 50 km distant.

The project will include an inland container yard, empty container depot, container freight station and future rail connection, establishing an integrated logistics platform combining sea, road and rail transport networks.

Gulftainer said the digitally connected and ESG-focused initiative would seek to enhance the supply chain efficiency and lower the inland transport costs, while providing speedier cargo movement throughout the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman and other GCC markets.

The Al Dhaid facility will complement Gulftainer’s current logistical infrastructure in Sharjah, including the newly inaugurated Sajaa Dry Port, therefore increasing the footprint of Khorfakkan Port and aiding regional trade development.
