Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - Caterpillar announced record second-quarter 2026 sales and revenues of $20.5 billion, up 24% from $16.6 billion the previous year, and the first time the company's quarterly revenue topped $20 billion.
Caterpillar's good performance was driven by increasing equipment sales volumes and better pricing, with earnings per share rising to $7.77 from $4.62 in the second quarter of 2025. Adjusted profits per share increased to $8.17, while the company's operating profit margin increased to 20.9%, indicating higher profitability throughout all operations.
Caterpillar also reported strong cash creation, with enterprise operating cash flow of $4.4 billion for the quarter. The corporation returned $2.2 billion to shareholders, including $1.5 billion in share repurchases and $700 million in dividends, to close the quarter with $6.7 billion in enterprise cash.
Strong order activity and a rising equipment backlog across Caterpillar's three key business areas helped to drive the results, demonstrating robust worldwide demand for construction, mining, and energy equipment despite prolonged macroeconomic uncertainties.
