Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - The United Arab Emirates has announced a federal road project for AED6 billion ($1.63 billion) to improve connectivity between the emirates and reduce traffic congestion.
The Fourth Federal Corridor will be 68 km long, with 10 important junctions, six to eight lanes in each direction, and four flyovers, increasing capacity throughout the national road network.
The project was discussed during a government infrastructure progress conference, where authorities emphasized the need of accelerating high-impact improvements to increase transportation efficiency while also supporting population growth and urban expansion.
Route connections were refined, and local authorities were consulted to ensure that the project was in line with larger development plans. Progress in connecting Ajman to existing federal roads was also evaluated, with the goal of increasing traffic flow and offering alternate routes.
Separately, officials considered a planned public transportation network linking Dubai, Sharjah, and Ajman to meet increased commuter demand. The concept comprises ten routes with Bus Rapid Transit systems and dedicated lanes that connect to metro stations and major metropolitan centers.
The corridor is positioned as a long-term investment that will improve connectivity and promote future development.
