Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - A $490 million (SAR1.84 billion) contract to construct the Saudi Arabia Museum of Contemporary Art (SAMoCA) in Diriyah has been given to a joint venture between Hassan Allam Holding and AlBawani Holding Company.

The project, which was commissioned by the Diriyah Company, is an important part of the larger Diriyah development, which aims to establish the historic region as a popular tourist and cultural destination worldwide.

Hassan Allam Construction Saudi Arabia and AlBawani Co., which combine local and regional competence in major infrastructure and cultural projects, will carry out the scope of work.

The museum, which is situated in the center of Diriyah, will have a total built-up area of more than 77,000 square meters and a gross floor space of more than 45,000 square meters.

The project is intended to promote the Kingdom's goals for cultural development and tourism by fusing modern museum standards with Diriyah's historic architectural character.
