AD Ports And EGA Invest $23 Million To Expand Khalifa Port Berth

Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - Together, AD Ports Group and Emirates Global Aluminium will jointly spend AED84 million ($22.9 million) to develop EGA’s dedicated berth at Khalifa Port.

The multi-phased project will enhance existing terminal infrastructure to handle bigger Newcastlemax dry bulk carriers that can transport 15% to 20% more cargo than the Capesize vessels that now use the site.

When finished in August 2028, the refurbished berth is planned to handle up to 8 million tonnes of bulk cargo a year, boosting capacity and operating efficiency.

The enlargement project comprises dredging works, improvements of the existing capping beam, installation of new bollards and fenders, extension of crane beams and foundations, and extra utility connections.

The investment would assist the expansion of major industrial clients while improving the long-term capacities of Khalifa Port, AD Ports added. The project will boost the efficiency and capacity of EGA’s import and export operations via one of the UAE’s most vital industrial gateways.

Khalifa Port continues to be a critical center for EGA’s worldwide activities and an important part of Abu Dhabi’s industrial and logistical ecosystem.
