Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - The PC9000-12, Komatsu's biggest hydraulic mining excavator, aims to increase surface mining operations' productivity and efficiency.
After being first used in Canada, the machine, which was created by Komatsu's mining division in Germany, is now accessible worldwide.
The PC9000-12, which was built for large-scale mining settings, may be set up with either an electric or diesel motor, enabling operators to adjust to site circumstances and legal needs. With bucket capacities of up to 49 cubic meters, it is available in both front shovel and backhoe versions.
The excavator can deliver more than 80 tonnes each pass and is designed to load big mining trucks in the 240–400 short ton range. It can produce up to 8,000 tons per hour under ideal circumstances.
Additionally, the equipment may be integrated into automated mining operations since it is compatible with Komatsu's autonomous haulage systems.
An ergonomic cabin layout and cutting-edge monitoring systems that enhance visibility and lessen fatigue are examples of operator safety and comfort characteristics.
Commercial deployment began in 2025 when the first unit was delivered to an oil sands project in Canada.
According to Komatsu, the introduction expands on the company's long-standing position in mining equipment and represents continuous efforts to boost productivity, save expenses, and facilitate more effective mining operations.
