Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - Hitachi Construction Machinery has inked a memorandum of understanding with US-based autonomous technology developer Pronto to collaborate on open, OEM-agnostic mine automation solutions.
The agreement will bring together Hitachi Construction Machinery's mining equipment experience and Pronto's autonomous haulage technology to give mining firms with flexible automation solutions that can be applied across diverse fleets rather than being limited to a single equipment vendor.
According to the companies, the partnership aims to assist mine operators in increasing production, improving safety, and addressing labor shortages by implementing scalable autonomous haulage systems that can be adapted to current equipment.
Pronto's autonomous haulage technology is intended to work with haul trucks from several OEMs and has already been used in commercial mining operations on three continents.
The partnership also aligns with Hitachi Construction Machinery's overall objective of expanding open cooperation with technology partners ahead of its planned transition to the LANDCROS brand in 2027, as demand for interoperable and vendor-independent mining automation grows.
