Oman’s Port Of Duqm Handles 1,200+ Vehicles From BYD Changsha

Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - As Oman's transportation and car industries continue to grow, the BYD Changsha has become the first ship to call at the Port of Duqm.

The 219.9-metre vehicle carrier has a capacity of 9,200 cars, with over 1,200 planned to be handled at Duqm during the call. Over 200 of these cars are intended for Oman, while more than 1,000 will go on to other GCC markets.

The operation is being carried out in partnership with the Saud Bahwan Group (BYD Oman), demonstrating Duqm's growing capacity to manage large-scale vehicle shipments.

Beyond the immediate delivery, the call reinforces Duqm's position as a regional automotive import and distribution hub, linking car supply chains to Oman and neighboring GCC markets.

Growing Ro-Ro and vehicle-handling activities at Duqm might further benefit the heavy equipment and commercial vehicle sector by offering extra logistical capacity for transporting trucks, machinery, and other wheeled equipment into Oman and across the Gulf.
