Maersk Adds New Shipping Service To Jeddah Islamic Port

Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has announced the addition of Maersk's MECL shipping service to Jeddah Islamic Port, which would improve the port's connection with vital international trade routes.

The new route connects Jeddah to key ports in the United States such as Charleston, Savannah, Houston, Norfolk, and Newark, as well as Tangier in Morocco, Salalah in Oman, and the Indian ports of Mundra, Pipavav, and Nhava Sheva.

With a capacity of up to 7,000 TEUs, the service is projected to boost cargo mobility, supply chain efficiency, and provide exporters and importers better access to global markets.

The expansion is part of its objective to extend Jeddah Islamic Port's marine network, increase its competitiveness, and assist Saudi Arabia's National Transport and Logistics objective, which seeks to establish the Kingdom as a major global logistics center.
