Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - AD Ports Group's ports business, Noatum Ports, has received three ship-to-shore (STS) cranes and six rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes for its new terminal in Safaga, Egypt, marking a significant milestone ahead of its scheduled opening in 2026.
The Super Post-Panamax cranes, made by Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Co. Ltd (ZPMC), arrived from China and marked the terminal's shift from construction to early operational preparedness.
The Safaga terminal, located on Egypt's Red Sea coast, will be the first globally managed facility in Upper Egypt, facilitating commercial flows between Egypt, the Middle East, and Africa.
The multifunctional port will process containers, bulk cargo, and Ro-Ro cargoes, with a capacity of up to 450,000 TEUs and dry and liquid bulk volumes.
AD Ports Group has committed around $52 million on crane procurement as part of a larger $200 million project under a 30-year concession deal with Egypt's Red Sea Ports Authority.
The complex, which covers around 810,000 square meters, is anticipated to open in the second half of 2026 and will play an important role in supporting industrial and logistical growth across the Red Sea area.
