Optorg Takes Full Control Of Caterpillar Dealer In DR Congo

Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - Optorg has strengthened its position in the African mining equipment sector after its subsidiary Tractafric Equipment International bought out the remaining 50% stake in Bartrac Equipment from Barloworld Equipment.

With the acquisition, Tractafric becomes the sole owner of Bartrac, whose subsidiary Congo Equipment is the official Caterpillar distributor in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The deal expands Optorg’s footprint in one of the world’s key mining industries, with demand for heavy equipment coming from significant copper and cobalt operations, as well as infrastructure and public works projects. Congo Equipment distributes, repairs, and maintains Caterpillar equipment utilized in the mining, road construction, rail rehabilitation and industrial sectors.

The purchase reflects Optorg's long term trust in the DRC and confirms its commitment to help the mining sector in the nation, said Optorg. The firm supplies Caterpillar construction and mining equipment, generators, industrial engines, and material handling equipment throughout Africa via Tractafric Equipment.

The agreement also provides Optorg with additional freedom to develop equipment sales, after-sales support, and technical services in the DRC, where reputable dealer networks are essential to minimize equipment downtime at large mining operations.
