MAN Restarts Truck Assembly In Algeria

Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - MAN Truck & Bus has begun CKD (completely knocked down) vehicle assembly in Algeria with its long-time partner Maghreb Truck Company, expanding its manufacturing presence in North Africa.

Production has resumed at MTC's Blida assembly factory, which can manufacture up to eight cars per day on two assembly lines. The plant will initially concentrate on MAN TGS trucks in 4x2, 6x4, and 8x4 configurations for long-haul transport, with the option to manufacture bus chassis when market need changes.

In the long term, MAN plans to produce around 1,500 cars per year for the Algerian market, expanding on a relationship with MTC that began in 2003. The business said that it has also invested in personnel training and production methods to guarantee that local assembly matches global manufacturing standards.

The restart underscores rising demand for commercial vehicles in North Africa, where investments in building, infrastructure, and logistics are boosting the need for locally produced trucks. Algeria is an important market for MAN, with MTC serving clients via a national sales and service network.
