Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - Engineers & Planners Co Ltd (E&P) intends to put nearly $1.2 billion into its contract mining operations at Gold Fields' gold mines in Ghana.
The investment will help with continuing development at the Tarkwa and Damang mines and will entail bringing in more heavy equipment to increase the mines' operating capacity.
As part of this investment, the company has sent 30 Caterpillar 785D haul trucks to its facility in Tarkwa.
The 785D is a large off-highway mining truck intended for open-pit mining operations that need to move a lot of ore and heavy debris over long distances in challenging conditions.
The move builds on past investments, such as a $650 million investment made in 2018 for the same operations. It also shows that E&P's contract mining activities are still growing in West Africa.
