Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - Long March Tyre (Egypt), a subsidiary of China’s Chaoyang Longmarch Tyre Co., Ltd., has started building of a $190 million tyre manufacturing plant in Egypt’s Sokhna Industrial Zone in the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE).
The project will be constructed and carried out in two parts on a land of 200,000 square metres. The first phase will generate up to 600,000 truck and bus radial (TBR) tyres a year, while the second phase will boost capacity to 1 million TBR tires and 4.5 million passenger car radial (PCR) tyres a year.
Once finished, the plant is projected to produce about 1,500 direct employment and cater to local demand as well as export markets in the area.
The investment comes as a further boost to Egypt’s booming manufacturing sector and SCZONE’s attempts to attract industrial enterprises seeking to improve exports and local production capabilities.
