Volvo L120 Electric Wins Red Dot Design Award

Volvo Construction Equipment has won a Red Dot Product Design award for its L120 Electric wheel loader, recognized for its innovative, sleek design that reflects a shift toward electromobility. The award was presented on July 8 in Essen, Germany.

Developed by Volvo’s global teams in China and Sweden, the L120 Electric stands out with a streamlined shape made possible by removing the diesel engine. Instead of traditional bulky battery placement, the design integrates batteries into the counterweight, improving both visibility and safety while maintaining performance.

The machine marks the first electric wheel loader of its kind in Volvo’s lineup and sets a new standard in electric construction equipment design, combining functionality with a forward-thinking aesthetic.
